Cute summer dresses are just about any woman's Holy Grail when it comes to hot weather clothing. They can be dressed up or down for any occasion and they're often quite inexpensive. Though summer dresses are often short and brightly colored, they can come in longer lengths and more subdued colors, too. If it's important to you to wear your summer dresses well past July or August, shop carefully for quality materials that will hold up through frequent wear and that can be layered with other items.
How to Wear Cute Summer Dresses
When it's summer, you can wear your summer dresses with shimmer lotion and your favorite pair of strappy sandals. That's the beauty of cute summer dresses—it's very easy to get dressed and look put together in a short period of time. At night when the temperatures drop just a bit, you can put on a light cardigan and still be comfortable.
But what do you do when the temperatures drop a lot? Do you have to retire all of your cute summer dresses, banish them to another closet or a box under the bed? Not really. While you may want to leave the white, floral dresses that scream summertime in the closet during the colder months, you can still get some use out of your most versatile (in color and pattern) dresses.

- Gap: The Gap always has great classic pieces for every season. Check here for some of the dresses you hope to transition into fall and winter with.

- Kohl's: The styles here typically walk the line between classic and trendy. Kohl's tends to have amazing sales, so keep your eyes open.
- Target: What you find here will probably be fairly trendy, but not so much that you can't enjoy wearing these dresses in other seasons or other years. It will be easy to shop for accessories at the same time you buy your dress(es).
